A Moment

There you are. The two of you.

At the usual time, in the usual spot, in the usual clothes.

You two talk and talk, laugh and banter. Same as always, moments you would look back on as "the good ol' times".

Nothing out of the ordinary. As smooth as clockwork, as natural as gravity.

Then you look at them for what must be the millionth time. Yet, this time somehow feels like the first, as they emit an oh-so-familiar yet completely new radiance.

Your heart starts beating hard, fast. You wonder if they can hear it. A peculiar heat suffuses your face, blazing up to the tips of your ears. A lump coalesces in your throat, throttling words that used to come so easily.

You think to yourself.

This is what it's like to fall in love.

Such a magical moment, transpiring at such a mundane moment.

Long story short... it's—

A turning point in your life.
An unforgettable event.
One that occurs once in a blue moon.
One that takes but a moment.

A moment that will be consigned to oblivion. Lost with time, try as you might. Lost to time, despite all your might. Lost in time, like tears in rain.

So, you promise to cherish it for as long as you can, with all you have.
Perhaps you'll put it in writing to record it.

To etch the sensation into your soul.
To engrave that event into your mind.

To carve a moment into your eternity.
