"Baa, baa, baaaaa" bleated Sally. "Life on the Renaud farm is blah, blah, blaaaah," she complained. "Nothing ever changes. Same sheep. Same hill. Same rocks... WHOOPS!"

"You're useless Kathrine, you couldn't even clean the house correctly" my mom yells at me. I want to shrink until there is nothing left of me.
"Go to your room. I don't want to see you until dinner," she continues. I obey her command and go up the rickety old stairs to my bedroom. I flop down on the bed and quietly cry to myself. Why does she have to be so evil? I need to take the risk and leave. But where will I go? How will I survive on my own?
After a couple of minutes, I get called down to set the table.
"I hope you can do this right," my mom says angrily pointing her long fragile finger at me. I do as she asked and I set the table. I grab the white plates from the kitchen and set them on the white clothed table. I grab the silverware and put the fork on the left and the knives on the right of the plate.
After I finish setting the table she asks me to go get Antonio from his room. I don't like Antonio because my mom always treats him nicely and then me as a slave who does all the chores and housework. He's a stranger. He won't even tell me his background. How could she treat him better? I'm always on my toes hoping not to get yelled at.
I walk up the stairs and toward Ant's room. I call him Ant to annoy him. I knock on the dark wooden door.
"One second Kat," he calls from behind the door. I stand against the adjacent wall waiting for him to come out. Mother would be pissed if I went downstairs without him. He finally comes out of his room, and we walk towards the stairs.
"How was your day?" He questions.
"It was good," I reply back. I can't tell him that it sucked for fear of him ridiculing me. He's always being nice to me and encouraging me to be braver and try things I've never tried before. So, I don't know where we stand in terms of a relationship. And it makes me so angry that I can't truly hate him.
We walk into the kitchen and sit down at the table. We eat the food that I made last night, which is butter chicken and rice with naan. In my opinion it tastes delicious.
We finish eating and I grab all the plates and bring them to the kitchen sink. Ant gets up from his seat and walks back up the stairs towards his bedroom.
"You idiot, the food was terrible, it was too dry. You can't do anything right," my mother screams. She raises her hand and hits me across the face. My cheek burns where she hit me.
"What is wrong with you! How could you hit your own child!" Ant yells at our mom from the stairs. I guess he didn't go back to his room. "Come on Kat we're going," he continues, waving at me to follow him. What if I do leave where will I go? What will I eat? But this could be my only chance to leave. I'm going to take it.
I walk towards Ant and we walk out the door. I can hear my mother yelling from behind us but I chose not to listen.
We keep walking until we are at the ocean's edge.
"Follow me," Ant waves for me to follow him into the ocean. Is he trying to kill me? What is in the ocean?
"Just trust me please," he calls out from the water. I debate whether or not to follow him but there is nothing that could happen to me in the ocean, I guess. So, I walk towards him. He grabs my hand and leads me out farther. Now we are not able to stand, and I am waiting in the water.
"Dunk you head under the water," he tells me. I don't trust him and so I don't.
"Please just trust me," he says with a depressed look in his eye.
"Fine," I reply back, dunking my head under the water.
I come back up to the surface, and we are in the middle of an ocean. Ant is still next to me with a ginormous grin that reaches ear to ear.
"Where are we," I squeal. Before he can reply a look of horror crosses his face and he yells to me, "swim!" I look behind me to find a massive ship coming straight for us. I quickly swim so that I'm not in the ship's way. Suddenly I feel two people grab me forcibly. I look to see who it is and they look like sailors from the ship. There's two people grabbing Ant as well. I try to swim out of their grasps, but I am unable to. They pull me toward the ship.
They drag me onto a wooden plank and haul me up onto the ship. When on the ship they throw me down onto the wooden floorboards. I'm soaking, and I'm upset. This is not a good day.
I stand up only to be toppled over by Ant who is thrown on top of me. He quickly gets off and stands muttering an apology. He holds his hand out for me to grab it. I do and he lifts me to my feet.
"In order to be set free you must defeat my men," the captain yells. Ant is thrown a sword and then is surrounded. He slashes and cuts the men effortlessly. He surprises me with how good he is. Then suddenly before I can speak a man jumps onto Ant from behind. Ant goes down onto the floor.
"You think he was going to save you, you're both weak. Take them to their separate rooms," the captain commands. Two hands grab me forcefully and yank me down the stairs and below deck. I can hear Ant yelling, but I can't make out the words.
My hands are tied behind my back now and I am thrown into a dark room where they tie the ropes to a chain in the back of the room. I sit up and think to myself. I am weak and I couldn't help Ant. I self-wallow for a minute then remember that I was strong enough to leave my world behind and face new challenges. I need to get out of here and save Ant and me.
I look around the room for anything that will help. I notice a sharp wooden plank next to me. I grab it between my feet and start sawing the ropes off of me.
I succeed and now I am free. It's now time to go find Ant. I run quietly out of the room and down the hall. I find a wall of swords and grab one for Ant to use. I look through every peep hole and eventually I find Ant. I slowly open the door and run to Ant.
He looks at me in confusion and then at me with determination. I untie his hands, and hand him the sword. We run up the stairs and towards the steering wheel, but we stop quickly as there is no captain there.
"Looking for me," I hear the captain say from behind me. He grabs me and holds a sword to my neck. Ant looks like he's going to burn the whole world down.
"Let her go," Ant says, his tone icy.
How can I get out of this? I know. I slam my foot down onto the captain's foot causing him to yelp in pain. He drops his sword. I quickly run out of the way letting Ant charge towards the captain stabbing him in the torso. I see the rest of the crew heading towards us but we have the advantage since we are above them. Ant easily fights them off and those who don't die surrender.
"Where did you learn how to sword fight? And how did you know about this place?" I ask Ant.
"I'm from here and was swimming in the ocean when I got transported to your world I was then found by your mother and taken in. As for sword fighting, I was given lessons from a young age," Ant replies.
We sail off towards land and towards freedom. I feel relieved and empowered now. I was able to escape from my home and help defeat a whole ship full of men.
"Go to your room. I don't want to see you until dinner," she continues. I obey her command and go up the rickety old stairs to my bedroom. I flop down on the bed and quietly cry to myself.
