Girl A eyed girl B's sleek black ALO leggings, cream yellow Lululemon jacket, and pristine pink UGGs. Girl B looked like the kind of girl who would buy $500 worth of merchandise if she felt even the slightest sad. The kind of girl who could afford retail therapy and wouldn't think twice about it. She wouldn't have to think about how she was going to pay for next semester, how she could rack up $200 after bills, utilities, and the cost of food. Actually, she wouldn't have to think about anything because in a world that runs on money, if you have money, then any problem is already solved.
"You're rich, so everything must come easy for you," blurted girl A. Girl A looked at herself in disbelief. She didn't mean to say it.
"That's not true," girl B retorted with a scowl on her face.
Faced with a scowl, girl A felt a fire rising within her. "What's not true? The fact that you're rich and everything comes easy? Or the fact your daddy buys anything you want? Stop being in denial."
"I'm not in denial! I work hard for my things! You think it's easy for me to sacrifice my vacation time to work? No, it's not, and it's been hell! So stop giving me hell!"
"You're actually crazy. You're acting like I ever had a vacation in my life!"
"What, do you want to go or something? It's not my fault you're broke!"
"So you admit it! Your dad is rich!"
"No. My parents literally died when I was in middle school. To reiterate, I worked hard for my things." She looked at girl B with a smirk. "Ever thought about doing that yourself?"
"Oh...OK. You're asking for it!"
Girl A and girl B began to brawl. Girl A grabbed girl's B hair, while girl B was beating girl A with her Chanel bag.
"You...have...some serious...problems!!"
SLAP!!
"No...you do...!!"
"Again, in denial!!"
"More like you are!!"
The girls didn't stop until they were pulled apart by passerby.
"She started it!!"
"Stop lying!! You did!"
They huffed and puffed and continued cursing each other out until they both got too tired and called it a day.
"You're lucky I'm a busy girl."
"Busy? More like you can't deal with the heat."
Girl A felt a fire rising within her once more but promptly quelled it knowing she really didn't have time to waste anymore. "Stay delusional. I don't care." Girl A left the scene and began to furiously text her mom about girl B and about what a B she was.
Meanwhile, girl B was infuriated. She was not delusional! She couldn't believe girl A got the last laugh. Girl B checked her phone but then promptly turned it off.
There was no one to talk to about this. Who was there to talk to anyways? Then she remembered something and checked her phone again. This time, the time stared back at her. Oh no...she was going to be late! The post office was going to close soon, and she needed to at least ship 10 items! Then after, she needed to stop by the thrift store!
As a popular reseller, girl B had to be ready to sell the latest trends and possibly even create trends. She was a micro influencer too and as such, had some sway in the trends of the local community. Because she desired a luxury lifestyle, she was willing to put in the work. But this position was lonely.
She felt this even more right now.
After running back to her apartment, she dashed towards the post office on campus with a heavy bag in hand, huffing and puffing along the way. Finally, just 20 minutes before the post office closed, she threw the door open and promptly shipped the products. After, she sighed with relief. Today was chaotic and just so overstimulating.
Now, with an empty bag in hand, she calmly walked to the thrift store. Even though that girl had ruined part of her day, it didn't mean that the whole day was ruined.
As girl B hummed a tune, she opened the door. There, a familiar face appeared: girl A. What was she doing here??
Girl A and B widened their eyes in shock, with girl B's mouth even agape.
"What are you doing here??" girl B asked.
"What do you think??" Girl A gestured at her location. Indeed, girl A was behind the cash register. She must be new then.
They both eyed each other with hostility, but it seemed there was a silent agreement to not start anything. Girl B couldn't be bothered to even glare at girl A anymore and began to start looking through the clothes. But girl A could be bothered. After all, what was girl B doing here? Was girl B here to finish what she started?
Fortunately not.
Girl B continued to focus on finding first and foremost, stylish clothing items and second, high-quality items. She shifted through the items one by one with a keen eye, pulling out many items in succession and plopping them down in a cart. After about maybe an hour, girl B arrived at the only cash register for the night, that just so happened to be where girl A was.
While girl B placed the items down, girl A continued to eye her. Then girl A began to do her job and scan the items. The items were just as she chose, stylish, high-quality items. Girl A had to admit it: girl B had quite the eye.
"...Are you a reseller or something?" girl A asked.
"Yes. I even got my clothes from the thrift."
Silence enveloped the room except for the beeping of the scanning. BEEP. BEEP.
"Sorry..." girl A said. "I shouldn't have said that."
Girl B looked up at her.
Girl A continued, "It wasn't nice to say." Girl A looked down and tried to only focus on completing the transaction.
"I'm sorry that I called you broke too. Being broke isn't a bad thing."
Girl A's eyebrow twitched as she looked up again. Girl B didn't have to say it like that!
"Well then," girl A said passive aggressively as she handed over the purchased items. "Have a good day."
"You too!" Girl B beamed with a smile and headed out the door.
