An "African Americans" Anthem

I am a proud...AFRICAN? AMERICAN? person
So authentic in the way I see and think
How I navigate the pearly white confinements of my Star-Spangled home
How I move about turbulent waters used once to flee
Never to roam

I am a proud AFRICAN american person
If you peek a little closer perhaps the Black will appear shades of red white and blue
An enchanting secondary shade of misplaced genes and tight ripped jeans
that echo "I am the reason that The Caged Bird Sings"

I am a proud african AMERICAN person
who is african ameriKKKan in a way that my
great-great-great-great grandaddy and
great-great-great-great grandmammy
captured the Carolina colonial cloud crop all day

And to this what can you say?

I am a proud AFRICAN american person
who is african ameriKKKan in a way that
bronze, broken fingers locked around a bleeding lovers heart...then hands
No recollection of a mother
Much less the motherland

How much could you withstand?

I am a proud african AMERICAN person
who is african ameriKKKan in a way that
my tongue became a phantom, decimated by devils who dared me to speak
I wove your oppressive dialogue
Chile I made it antique

And still you critique?

I am a proud african AMERICAN person
who is african ameriKKKan in a way that
my blood red, black striped, liberty starred banner remains void on the screen
"Paste the flag of all your people!"
But my keyboard comes up clean

Aren't you seen?

I am a proud AFRICAN american person
who is african ameriKKKan in a way that
derisive glass vials and salivated swabs hold the enchantments to my enlightenment of ME
Pockets profit off my position
Pay my way to ancestry

Why can't you see?

I am a proud african AMERICAN person
No! A proud AFRICAN american person
No? Which encloses my history in name?
What are to be called the descendants of the once AmeriKKKan slave?
