If you're a writer, a reader, a potential partner, simply curious, or all of the above - we want you involved in Philly Storied City! This is a project for everyone.
For Writers...
Welcome! It's your words that we're looking for to give a little local color to our Philadelphia Short Story Dispensers. We're looking for short stories, flash fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction written in any style, on any theme, on any subject you like. We want it all. Though the project is called Philly Storied City, that doesn't mean that what you submit has to take place in or be about Philly. We just want to serve as a platform, editor, and publisher of Philadelphians' creative writing. Your words make Philly a Storied City. For all the necessary info on submitting, find the guidelines here. Our editorial team will also be considering all submissions for publication across our more than 300 Dispensers around the world.
For Readers...
Happy to have you! You'll be able to access all the published works both here on this site and in the Dispensers around the city. If you'd like to go one step further and work alongside us, we are always looking for volunteer readers. If you're curious about what goes on behind the scenes at Short Édition, how a submission goes from point A to point B (the Dispensers), this is where the curtain drops. We'd love to read, critique, and help select submissions for publication with you. Being on the Review Team is completely voluntary so you can fit it into your schedule whenever it works best. And even if you're both a reader and a writer, you can still be on the team and submit your work to Philly Storied City. If you're interested in volunteering or simply finding out more, please contact us at hello@short-edition.com.
For Potential Partners...
The more the merrier! We would love to collaborate with you. Our goal is for this project to be a joint effort by many of Philadelphia's organizations, foundations, and companies - whether their mission is to help make literature more accessible to all, contribute to the city's unique cultural scene, support the arts in general, or simply feel good about giving back to the city. From our perspective, we would love to be the orchestrator of a project by the city for the city. If you're interested in helping fund this creative venture, purchase or host your own Short Story Dispenser, or would just like to say hi and find out some more info, please contact our US Business Development Manager, Melissa Falcou, at melissa@short-edition.com.
