Rhapsody in Blue, 7 Nov. 2020

Blue-bells
coaxing melodies from morning grass. Blue sunlight
spilling into sidewalk cracks. Blue cars
with windows rolled down, letting the light in. Blue faces
taking fresh blue breaths
and smiling blue smiles. Blue ballots
cast in wishing wells on a Tuesday. Blue grandmothers
cheering at blue television screens
in the middle of the night. Blue money
trading hands in quiet places. Blue needles
sewing false promises through tattered fabric. Blue stripes
on black-and-white flags jeering from truck beds. Blue House
turning off the lights as blue cries
water its lawn. Blue waves
gliding on gilded blue oceans. Black and blue bodies
drowning beneath.
