All submissions must be submitted via this submission platform in a copy/paste format. If you are submitting multiple pieces at once, please submit them individually. We cannot respond to unsolicited submissions via post or email.
We welcome submissions from established and emerging writers alike.
All submissions must be previously published in a print or online magazine, review, or journal. If you have an original, unpublished piece that you'd like for us to consider, please submit it for our quarterly review, Short Circuit
Please let us know where your submission was previously published in the designated box on the submission form. We want to be sure to give credit to the original publisher.
Submissions must be short stories, flash fiction or poems of maximum 7,500 characters (spaces included) or children's works of maximum 7,000 characters.
Regarding Poetry: Because the Dispenser paper is only 8cm wide, we advise you to take this into consideration when formatting your poems. One line on the Dispenser paper holds approximately 40 characters, spaces included.
We will only accept fictional works, and they may be any style or genre, excluding erotica.
We pay an advanced payment against royalties of 25 euros for an accepted submission, payable via Paypal or wire transfer. Authors will then earn royalties on a yearly basis thanks to our Short Story Dispensers.
Each selected piece will be published as a part of The Current in our Short Story Dispensers around the world and on our website, short-edition.com/en.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted.
Concerning rights to your work, we ask for:
the exclusive right to publish your work in Short Story Dispensers or any similar vending machine.
the non-exclusive right to use or adapt your work as a basis for audio.
the non-exclusive right to publish your work via all other media, such as on our website.
