The Moment Before Sunset

The light that hurts my eyes turns low
Its image burned in my mind
I can’t shake the thought that I should know

The sun goes down ever so slow
Twilight moves like a snail across the sky
The light that hurts my eyes turns low

And in the silence that seems to grow
Sounds get louder with time
I can’t shake the thought that I should know

Whatever it was a few hours ago
Is not what it's become now
As the light that hurts my eyes turns low

The lake is bathed in a sunset glow
As the sun and I go to rest
And still I can’t shake the thought that I should know

Yet in the silence as the curtain closes on this twilight show
I feel as if I’ve found something that I can’t recognize
While the light that hurts my eyes turns low
And I can’t shake the thought that I should know...
