American writer, playwright, and newspaper columnist, George Ade was a great humorist of the American character during a time when many were migrating from the countryside to major bustling cities. Much of his fiction and humor revolves around the "common man" and his Midwestern manners. He is especially well known for his collection, Fables in Slang.
